19th century cabinet card photograph of a Tom Thumb Wedding presented in the Midland Opera House by the first Kindergarten class in Midland. L-R: Ralph Price, Willie Thompson, Fanny Cody and Wenona Rockwell. Established in April 1894, the first kindergarten class was held in the basement of the First Prebyterian Church with tuition of 50 cents per week for children between the ages of 2 1/2 - 7 years. |
