Scope & Content |
Two petitions signed by local businessmen supporting the prohibition of the sale and consumption of alcohol in Midland County. The peitition states "We, the undersigned, Business Men of the City of Midland, without question declare that the experience of eight years of County Prohibition has proven the wisdom of forbidding the sale of liquor locally, and that the voting out of the saloons has vastly benefitted our city and county. We therefore declare ourselves opposed to the so-called wet "home rule" amendment, inasmuch as it would absolutely destroy our present county prohibition, and we believe that our support is demanded in the campaign for state-wide prohibition" |
