The 20th Century Club was founded on 23 January 1917 as a study club for women. Organized by six women who felt a need of "mutual improvement and sociability", the first meeting took place in the home of Rea White. The club was originally called the Bay-View Club, the name was chaged to the 20th Century Club 23 April 1917 at the same time the first Constitution and By-Laws were written.
In 1918 the 20th Century Club became affiliated with the General Federation of Women's Clubs.
The original members included six women: Louanna Jones, Ruth Harlow, Rea White, Lydia Sjolander, Dora Gindlesperger and Lily Zuckermandel.
The 20th Century Club officially disbanded in May 2015 as the last of its membership declined with the last club president Ruth Blair leaving the Midland area.
